As a Communication Arts & Literature major I have been exposed to many new and progressive teaching strategies. From this, I have been able to develop my teaching philosophy as well as practice it in the classroom. Simply stated, my philosophy of teaching is to facilitate the growth of student voices in the classroom whether it is through reading, writing, listening or thinking.
I have attended many schools enhancing my background in teaching personalities. Starting at Sloane Elementary School in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada I was able to learn and be a part of a Canadian Urban School. I then moved to Brooklyn Center, Minnesota where I have attended Evergreen Elementary, Northport Elementary, Hosterman Middle School, and Brooklyn Center Jr./Sr. High School. Also, I was a student at North Hennepin Community College as a Post Secondary Institution.
Truly growing at the College of St. Catherine I have been able to hold student leadership positions and become apart of the campus. I have learned how to critique myself effectively and how to communicate successfully with other.
Currently I am seeking a licensure in Secondary Education, 5-12, in Communication Arts & Literature. I am a role model in my personal life by attending a higher education institution, as well as in my academic career by being able to organize my day to accommodate to schoolwork, events, and my family.
